Tour to Grūtas Park - the park of Soviet Sculptures Come back to USSR
Grūtas Park is about 130 km to the southeast of Vilnius. Grūtas Park contains the controversial exhibits of Soviet sculptures and ideological relicts brought from towns and cities across Lithuania. To date no other museum or cultural institution has endeavoured to collect or duly exhibit the Soviet relics. In Grūtas Park, monumental sculptures are positioned in a 2 km-long exposition, where guard towers, fragments of concentration camps and other details resemble Siberia. Grūtas Park is situated on a 20 ha area. Such a large concentration of monuments and sculptures of ideological content in a single out-door exposition is a rare and maybe even unique phenomenon in the world.
The most charming things are the souvenirs of the Soviet period theme. Here you can taste some Soviet meals. This Lithuanian region is also famous for mushrooms courses. Not far away from the park there is a holiday resort – Druskininkai.
